Withdrawing EPF

This will be my last post of the Malaysia citizenship renunciation series of posts

This is one of the method to withdraw your EPF as I found out later that KWSP actually offers other means of withdrawal. I'll share how I did mine.
  1. Use borang K to update an existing bank account that were previously opened before renunciation of Malaysia citizenship. This is to change the NRIC from the Malaysia NRIC number to Singapore passport and/or Singapore NRIC number
  2. What to bring
    • Singapore passport
    • Singapore passport photocopy
  3. Updating of bank account information will take 3 days for CIMB, so I had to take another trip to Malaysia just to go to KWSP and not able to do it all in one single day

Once the bank account information is updated
  1. Get a printout from the bank of the latest bank account information with the updated Singapore passport number and/or Singapore NRIC number.
  2. What to bring
    • Singapore passport
    • Singapore passport photocopy
    • Borang K
    • Borang K photocopy
    • Bank account information printout with the newly updated NRIC number
  3. Form to fill up to withdraw EPF is "KWSP 9K (AHL)" and also a form to change Malaysia NRIC to Singapore NRIC number. I forgot to jot down the form number as everything happened in a hurry because it was near their knock off hours. The person attended my case forgot to get me to change my NRIC and phone me after I left KWSP. Luckily I wasn't very far away.
  4. If you have a Malaysia mobile phone number, KWSP will SMS you when your funds are transferred to your bank account. This process will take about 3-4 weeks.

Citizenship Ceremony

Finally! I obtained by pink NRIC. You will require to wait for the letter from ICA inviting you to the ceremony. The letter look somewhat like this below.

You are allowed to bring a guest or family member along but they will not be seated together with you. They will be seated at the rear of the hall together with the rest of the other guests.

Don't need to be kiasu and reach there too early, reach on time will do. The event has been designed for late comers, I'm guessing that is why dinner is served first. The ceremony starts only after the buffet dinner.

Not the whole place at Mountbatten CC is air conditioned. They set up a tent with evaporative air coolers and not all the air coolers are in working air condition. While Singapore is in equator with its hot and humid weather, having a tie put on will definitely make you perspire.

Selling Malaysia Registered Car with Borang K

I previously tried to sell my Malaysia registered car before I obtained my borang K. I went through a lot of hassle and I was unable to sell it. The reason being is that the car was registered under my name and Malaysia NRIC but I no longer have my Malaysia NRIC since I had it surrender to Malaysia High Commission and I went back to Malaysia using my Singapore passport.

In the Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) system, the car owner is a Malaysian. They called up Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) to check, it says that I'm still a Malaysian but I'm already in Malaysia using Singapore passport and I haven't obtain my borang K because JPN haven't process my renunciation yet. I was having dual nationality during that period of time technically speaking.

Once having the borang K, selling the car was easy. This is what you need to bring
  1. Original borang K
  2. Photocopy of borang K (front & back)
  3. Singapore passport
  4. Photocopy of passport (biodata page only)
