You are mentioned the confirmation letter received after 4 months, so it just nice 4 months or more than 4 months? If more than 4 months, what is the actual period? Thanks.
Hi Felix, Yeah, I think I received mine around 4 months +- 1 week. I can't remember the dates, you probably need to calculate it for approximation based on my blog dates.
I am unable to answer you what is the actual period. I am just blogging my experience renouncing my Malaysia citizenship.
Yes surrender my passport in Oct 2016. I emailed MHC and they mention my Borang K is ready however I have not gone to ICA to get the date of collection for the citizenship certificate. So i dont know what i should do now.
Hi Xue En, as you can see from my photos above, the mail from MHC is not a registered mail. Maybe you can just go to ICA and request for your certified photocopy of your (1) Singapore NRIC and (2) citizenship certificate and then bring it to MHC. Best if you read through what I had done, then skip this portion of this letter. Just a suggestion, I'm not sure what you should do too.
I have just received the confirmation letter from Malaysia High Commission last Sat (15 Apr 2017). From the advice given above, I need to personally go down to ICA to request for the collection for the citizenship certificate. May I know, 1) How about attending the SG citizenship ceremony collecting the Singapore Pink IC? Is this to be done after I have personally visited ICA informing them the receiving of the confirmation letter from Malaysia High Commission or?
2) After I have collected the Borang K form and birth certificate from Malaysia High Commission, am I right to say I need to return the original copy of the Borang K form to ICA for filing?
1. If you are currently at the stage of requesting certified copy of Singapore NRIC and citizenship certificate, then you are still far away from citizenship ceremony. Read http://oofnivek.blogspot.sg/2017/03/singapore-nric.html
2. ICA don't keep your original documents. Read http://oofnivek.blogspot.sg/2016/12/borang-k_9.html
Hi Kevin, I just received the confirmation letter from MHC today. If tomorrow I go to ICA, can I get the SG Citizenship Certificate at the same time? I'm plan to go ICA on Thurs, then Fri to MHC and ICA. Is it ok? Or all must do at same day?
Hi Wei Wei, request for the certified photocopy of citizenship certificate and NRIC is not immediate. They usually ask you to go back a month later to collect it.
Hi Kevin, Thanks for you info. I just called to ICA. Once you received the confirmation letter from Malaysia High Commission (MHC). You can actually call to ICA to schedule a date for the collection of Certified copy of Singapore IC & Singapore Citizenship Certificate. They will give you 3weeks from the day you called. I called today 6/6/17, my collection for Certified copy of Singapore IC & Singapore Citizenship Certificate will be on 27/6/17. Hope this info can help others.
Hi Kevin. Is it a must for me to submit the Malaysian Citizenship Certificate at the High Comm? I do not remember I have any Malaysian Citizenship Certificate.
I just done mine and waiting time for form K is about 8mths, longer than i expected. =_=" At this point, i have a question, hoping everyone here could shed some lights. At this point, while waiting for ur form K, wat would u consider urself as? A SG citizen already? As I was kind of curious, u got ur SG passport and ur temp pink IC, wat if Msia side screwed up? And also, at this stage, would u update ur status to SG citizen? For example, updating ur bank, any forms, CV or any application? I'm also being mindful that it's rather unlawful to declare wrong info and at the same time was wondering under wat circumstances that ur renunciation will be disapproved from Msia? Any thoughts? Thx!
